Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista 'can't bear to be in same room' (2024)

Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista are reportedly locked in a feud and can no longer bear to be in the same room as each other.

The pair, along with Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Claudia Schiffer were part of the original crop of supermodels who dominated the runway in the 1990s.

But it appears things have turned sour between Naomi, 54, and Linda, 59, who have unfollowed each other on Instagram and are said to be currently avoiding the other at fashion shows.

Rumours of a rift first began in September 2023 when Naomi and Linda both strutted their stuff on the catwalk at Vogue World alongside Christy and Cindy.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed when Naomi posted the moment they were all on stage together, she did not tag Linda, but did tag Christy and Cindy.

Later that same month at Milan Fashion Week, the pair, who were close in previous years, sat five seats apart from one another at the Fendi spring/summer show.

Naomi was sat alongside her close friend Kate Moss and actress Demi Moore while Linda was between model Suki Waterhouse and actress Naomi Watts.

In an interview with The Standard, Naomi did not mention Linda by name but did suggest she is disappointed with someone who has shown 'ungratefulness'.

She said: 'Insincerity makes me angry, and ungratefulness. Especially when you know you've gone out of your way to really help someone, and they can't say thank you. Not a simple thank you. It's not anger so much as a grand disappointment.'

When the journalist asked Naomi if she was speaking about someone in particular, she replied: 'Correct'.

The publication went as far as to say the women currently 'can't stand' each other.

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Naomi and Linda for comment.

Last year, Naomi and Linda both appeared in AppleTV+'s series The Supermodels which focused on the top models of the 1990s.

To promote the show, they appeared together on the cover of Voguein August 2023 along with Cindy and Christy.

'There was a sisterhood there, defined by caring and loyalty,' Naomi told the publication. 'When one is down you pick the other one up.'

Things weren't always animus between the pair. Naomi previously credited Linda and Christy for telling Dolce & Gabbana: 'If you don't use Naomi, you don't use us,' when she was an up and coming model in the late 80s.

In 2022, Linda shared an Instagram post wishing Naomi a happy birthday alongside a photo of them from the 90s.

She wrote: 'Happiest birthday my Omi. I love you love you love you #family @naomi'.

In 2021, when Linda opened up about her CoolSculpting ordeal which left her 'brutally disfigured' and saw her step away from the public eye for years, Naomi was among those who praised her for speaking out.

She wrote: 'Elos I applaud you for your courage and strength to share your experience and not be held hostage by it anymore.. You know I love you...

'We love you and here for you always Right by your side.. I can't imagine the pain you've gone through mentally these past 5 years, you're free of it now...

'Remember who you are, and what you have achieved and your influence and all the lives of people you have touched, and still doing so to this very day by sharing your story. Proud of you, and support you every step of the way'.

Linda got her start in modelling at the age of 16 when she took part in the Miss Teen Niagara beauty pageant, where she was spotted by a representative from Elite Model Management.

Her unique and versatile look meant that Linda was able to snag a multitude of modelling jobs, quickly becoming one of the highest paid models in the industry.

She was famed for her - frequently misquoted - comment in a 1990 Vogue interview in which she said: 'We have this saying, Christy [Turlington] and I… we don't wake up for less than $10,000 a day.'

Naomi's modelling career began when she was scouted by Beth Boldt, head of the Synchro Model Agency, while shopping in Covent Garden as a 15-year-old.

Her career took off quickly and she appeared on the cover of British Elle just before her 16th birthday.

She went on to model for the top designers in the world and also became the first black woman to appear on the cover of Vogue France and American Vogue's famous September issue.
